Vitamin:

Vitamins are organic compounds that the body needs in small amounts to function properly and are found in very small quantities in natural food sources. Under normal circumstances, vitamins need to be obtained through diet because they are either not produced by the body at all or not in sufficient quantities. Vitamins are not only obtained through dietary means. For example, when the human body is exposed to sunlight, it synthesizes vitamin D, which is the best source of this vitamin for the human body.

Different vitamins play different roles in the body, and to stay healthy, a person needs to have varying amounts of each vitamin in their body. Having too little of any vitamin can increase the risk of developing specific and different health problems.

Discovery of Vitamins:

The term "vitamin" was coined by the Polish biochemist Casimir Funk in 1912, who isolated a micronutrient complex that he assumed was necessary for life and thought they were all amines. However, it was later understood that not all vitamins were amines. All known vitamins today were identified between 1913 and 1948.
